Frequently Asked Questions

The time frame for creating your collage depends primarily on the number of photos that you want to include and their condition. We ensure that each photo looks its best, and we will do color corrections and retouching if needed. Each collage is custom-made, and our graphic artists spend whatever time is necessary to transform your photos into stunning artwork. The size of your print will also affect the time it takes to create, print and ship it. Below are some approximate time ranges:

• The smaller the collage, the quicker it’s completed. A 20″ x 24″ print typically can be completed in 7-14 business days.
• Collages with more than 45 photos take 14-30 business days.
• Photo Mosaics can be completed in 7-10 business days.
• We can expedite your order for a rush fee of 20-50% of the regular price. The rush fee varies depending on circumstances (collage size, how quickly you need it, etc.)
• We only take orders on as many collages as our design staff can complete while maintaining our very high standards.
• Holidays are very busy and turnaround time can be longer. We might have to stop taking orders to ensure all orders are completed on time.

Yes! You can include photographs in your collage. You have two options:

• You ship your photographs to us; we scan them and ship them back to you. We do NOT harm or damage your photographs, and we treat them as if they were our own. If you choose this option, send your photographs (preferably in an 8″x10″ or 9″x12″ envelope) protected by 2 pieces of hard cardboard to keep them from being bent or crushed while in transit. Please attach any special instructions such as desired cropping, removal of people or items, retouching blemishes, and your choice(s) for the main photo that you’d like in the center. Also include your contact information, so that we can contact you with any questions or concerns. We must have your NAME, SHIPPING ADDRESS, E-MAIL ADDRESS, PHONE NUMBERS, SIZE OF COLLAGE and ORIENTATION (portrait or landscape). Send all of this to:

• You may also scan the photographs yourself at 600 dpi resolution or higher. You don’t need to crop photos as we will do that for you. You can then upload your images directly on our website or email us at customer-service@procollage.com with a link to a Google Drive or Dropbox folder with your images. Once you’ve done this, please fill out the Order Form.

Yes, we can include a picture of a picture, BUT it’s always better if you can scan the photo instead. If you can’t, then follow these guidelines:

• Make sure your camera lens is clean
• Make sure there is no glare
• Remove the photo if it’s under glass
• Don’t use the flash
• Make sure there aren’t any shadows of your hands or camera
• The photograph must be as flat as possible
• Don’t take the picture at a slant or angle
• Make sure the photograph is clean and dusted
• Make sure your phone camera is set on the highest resolution setting
• Share the picture at actual size when sending it to us

We can include pictures taken with a cell phone as long as the photo was taken with a high resolution setting. Nowadays, most cell phones only take high resolution photos.

File sharing programs or sites tend to compress images, and this results in a low resolution image. So, we might not be able to use an image downloaded from social medial. You can send us the image making sure that you choose the “Actual Size” option when you share it. We will let you know whether or not we can use it in your collage.

If you require assistance or are unsure if your images are high resolution, send us a sample,  and we will promptly respond to let you know. If possible, let us know the approximate collage dimensions and how many photos you would like to include.

Yes we can! All photos are professionally color corrected  to restore them to their original color and digitally retouched to repair lightly damaged photographs.

Our expert graphic artists routinely perform “photo surgery” to remove blemishes, open eyes, fix red-eye, add color/texture or even remove unwanted objects or people. Depending on the extent of the corrections needed, there could be an extra fee. But, we will let you know that before we start that work.

We can use digital and scanned hard copy photographs in the same collage. Here are some things you should keep in mind when selecting your photos:

• The clearer your original photo looks, the better it will look in the collage. So, if your photo is sharp and crisp, then it will look that way in the final collage. It is difficult to correct photos that are blurry and those in which the main subject’s head is cropped. Faded photos can often be corrected to their original color.
• Larger photos contain more detail, therefore, resulting in a better final output. We can resize photos, so don’t worry about us sending a large one. If you are scanning your photos, make sure the setting is at 600/DPI resolution or higher, and save the file as a JPEG instead of a PDF.
• Digital photos can be compressed by file sharing programs, websites or social media apps. For example, we can’t use photos downloaded from Facebook unless they are quite large (high resolution). Pictures taken with a smart phone should be taken without using the flash, and sent to us at their original or “actual size’.
• Feel free to include certificates, awards, wedding invitations, letters or anything else that can be scanned.

Our graphic artists are highly trained and experienced with layout, design and photo manipulation. Professional photo collaging requires all of those skills. We meticulously arrange your images with respect to color, balance and lighting. It’s like putting together a complicated puzzle with no matching pieces.

We always welcome your thoughts and ideas, and we appreciate it when you let us know if you’d like a certain layout or showcase specific photos. However, there are some limitations to what we can do. For example, if you want your photos arranged in a precise order but those photos do’t fit well together. In those cases, we ask that you trust our designers with their recommendations. We have many years of experience, and you can see from our customer testimonials that they are very happy with the result.

Browse through our gallery, and you’ll notice that a vast majority of our collages have a large photo in the center. We highly recommend you pick a “center” photo as it provides a focal point that the eye is drawn to, especially from across a room. Without this focal point, the collage often appears cluttered or as just a mesh of color.

That is entirely up to you and will depend on how and where you will display it. We can make them up to 6 feet wide, and they can be horizontal, vertical, square or even circular! Although, you might have a hard time finding a frame for a circular collage...

That said, we do offer you guidelines and recommendations, so that your collage doesn’t look “cramped” or “crowded.”

Below is a guideline of recommended collage size based on the number of photos included using common U.S. frame dimensions. However, if the majority of your photos contain large groups of people (4 or more), then a larger size would look better or you could use fewer pictures.

• 10 photos - 9″ x 12″
• 12 photos - 11″ x 14″
• 17 photos - 12″ x 18″
• 22 photos - 16″ x 20″
• 35 photos - 18″ x 24″
• 40 photos - 20″ x 24″
• 50 photos - 24″ x 28″
• 60 photos - 28″ x 32″
• 75 photos - 30″ x 36″
• 80 photos - 32″ x 38″

Mounting means that your print is adhered to a stiff material, usually 1/8″ sintra board or 1/4″ foamcore, so that the print can stand up by itself (for example, to display at an event). It can then be placed in a frame and hung on a wall. This is a popular option for party sign-in boards.

All of our wall art prints are printed on premium, high-resolution, photo matte material, which is similar to the thickness of a high quality poster. We recommend that you frame your print under glass. If framing is not an option for you, then lamination can be a simple and cost-effective method of protecting your print. Lamination helps to prevent: sun damage, fading, dirt, fingerprints, moisture and other contaminants.

Currrently, we do not offer framing services. We have found that the cost of shipping framed prints is exceptionally high. There is also a high incidence of frames arriving with broken glass no matter how well they are packed.

This is why we recommend that you have your print framed at a local shop. You can even find standard size frames at retailers like Michaels, Target, TJ Maxx, etc. Even though we can make your collage at any size, we suggest that you choose a standard frame size so you can easily find a frame for it. A sign-in board is a great addition to any party! We mount your collage, photo mosaic or a single photo to a white board (1/8th” sintra or foamcore) that is 2″ - 6″ larger than the outside dimensions of your print. You can place it on a table or easel, so that your guests can sign it or write notes on it. This can be framed after the event so it can be hung on a wall and enjoyed for many years.

There are some things to consider when choosing the size of the blank border that surrounds the collage (like, how many guests will attend and if you will be framing the sign-in board). Our customer service staff is happy to help you choose the right size.

To give you an idea, if you are planning to frame the sign-in board, and you want to place it in a standard-sized frame, then your overall size (collage and border) could be 20″x24″. This means that the collage would be 14″x18″ placed in the center and surrounded by 3″ of blank border for guest signatures.

Remember to have sharpies for guests to sign the board. Depending on the event’s style, you can use black or multiple colored sharpies or even gold and/or silver for a classy look.

We accept Quick Pay with Zelle, PayPal or business checks. PayPal is very convenient as we send you a link to make your payment with a credit card or e-check. You do not need to have a PayPal account to use this option. For other payment options, please contact customer service.

We begin working on your collage once we receive a deposit of 50% of your estimate. You can get an estimate using our online calculator.

We send you a proof of your project via e-mail for your approval. Once you give us your final approval, and the remaining balance has been paid, your collage is printed and shipped via UPS, USPS or FedEx. We also return all of the hard copy photographs you sent to us (or sooner if needed).

The first step in getting started is submitting your photos and completing our online order form.

Digital Photos: you can submit your images by using our  online file uploader or by emailing us a link to a Google Drive or Dropbox folder to customer-service@procollage.com. Once you upload your photos, please fill out the Order Form. Your photos will then be reviewed, and a customer service representative will contact you.

Hard Copy Photographs: you may send us your photographs (preferably in an 8″x10″ or 9″x12″ envelope) inserted between hard cardboard to prevent bending while in transit. Make sure to attach any special instructions regarding cropping, removing of people/objects, retouching blemishes and your choice(s) for the center photo. We also need the following information - NAME, SHIPPING ADDRESS, E-MAIL ADDRESS, PHONE NUMBER, SIZE OF COLLAGE and ORIENTATION (portrait or landscape). Please use a shipping service that provides tracking to minimize the chance of your photographs being lost in transit.

If you are paying by check or money order (make to ProCollage), you may include it with your photographs. Go to our pricing page to get an estimate. Write your check/money order for 50% of the estimate as a deposit. We will not begin work on your project until we receive your deposit.
